Boot Coming Down

I have never so wanted a year to be over
Never been one wishing time to pass
Waiting and suffering always been so easy
Don’t know what’s changed or who to ask
I don’t want to be stuck doing everything
But I can’t seem to ask you to do anything at all
Always have wanted things for you to be so easy
And I have been used to pain since I was just so small.

Laying here with one foot on my throat
Just waiting for the other boot to fall…

Some friends say we’re just hiding out in the country.
That’s why we struggle, at least that’s what they say
I would like to think we are a little bit smarter
But smarter has never gotten us anywhere, any way.
When we came here together wanted a house full of children
But it has taken forever to earn our only one
I hope that we can raise her to be fearless
All I want for her is to never have to run.

I never minded so much, me getting older
Now I look up to all this gray and these lines on my face
Failure was always just another reason to work harder
Knocked down again, now only blood left to taste
And I’m just happy for us to growing old together
With this roof over our heads, and enough bread in our hands.
Learned quickly in this our life together
That nobody gives a damn/shit about our demands.
